Nearly a hundred volcanoes are showing up on a North-South line of about 50 km long and 8 km wide. On the geological scale, the Chaîne des Puys is very young ; all types of volcanoes can be seen and the diversity of the volcanic shapes is astonishing.

Right in the middle, the Puy de Dôme is 1 465 meters at its highest point and allows a 360° view of the other volcanoes which are 1200 meters high on average .

In no other place will you be able to see so many volcanoes at a glance. The memory you will keep of them is unique.

Our pilots will be only too pleased to help you discovering them in the best conditions and to open with you one of the most famous chapters in geography. This may even convince you to go deeper into the subject and, who knows, take a walk to the heart of the craters. Don’t worry, none of our volcanoes are  active and they are easily accessible, please take care of them …

Do you feel like being a pilot ?

We will let you discover what flying a plane means. You sit in the left seat, which is the pilot seat, and you take the controls of the plane … of course accompanied by an instructor. After take-off, you hold the control column and the instructor initiates you into the three dimensional flying.This flight will make you enjoy piloting.

In 2010, the cost of a 45 minutes initiation flight is

112 €.

Take-off with the Aero-Club d’Auvergne !

Once upon a time, there was a ride not quite like the others …

Take-off, landing, magical flying over superb landscapes, playing hide and seek with the clouds, private exchange with wide horizons … you would like to visit or re-discover our beautiful region from a new point of view …

Thanks to the Aero-Club d’Auvergne, you will have the opportunity to have a great time on board our modern and comfortable planes.

For yourself or your friends and family, flying over our region is an unforgettable gift. In a business context, you can use it to show your gratitude to your best customers or your most deserving employees.

What are then the magical formulas of our sky rides ?

You can either define your own program and fly over the places you choose or select one of our proposed rides.

  • The discovery of the agglomeration of Clermont-Ferrand seen from the sky (20mn et 72€).
  • The flying over the "Chaîne des Puys" (35 minutes et 126 €) .

These prices are the same if you are one, two or three passengers.
Remember, seen from above the Puy de Dôme or the Chaîne des Puys and the city are even more impressive !

Booking :

You will leave from and return to the Clermont-Ferrrand Auvergne Airport. Subject to availabilities of passengers/planes/pilot and favourable meteorological conditions, flying is possible every day of the week between sunrise and sunset. Sitting on board a plane being similar to sitting in a car and as the temperature is nearly the same, you can dress normally. It is advisable to take a cap and sun glasses.

During the week, a 24 hours notice is sufficient to book your flight. If you wish to fly on a Saturday or a Sunday, it is better to call a few days in advance. Don’t worry about the weather ; your flight will be cancelled without any cost to you if the weather conditions are adverse or if the pilot cancels the flight at the last minute for security reasons.
